Early Street Community Garden
Building Community
Once a littered and vacant lot slated for development, the Early Street Community Garden now provides space for over 100 individuals/families to grow their own food, flowers and herbs.
Thanks to our supporters, the garden is also a thriving community hub and model of sustainable green spaces complete with a public parklet, rain gardens, solar pavilion, ADA-compliant walking path, apiary and more to enjoy!
The garden hosts many community groups enjoying the many therapeutic benefits of gardening including Bonnie Brae, Colonial L.I.F.E. and Neighborhood House. Gardeners actively harvest from a donation bed and their plots placing fresh produce for local neighbors in the newly constructed donation bin along Early Street. Our goal is to prevent any food waste.
Check out the new developments as a result of the Grow Early Capital Campaign!
In 2021, we worked with local artist Monique Sarfity to create this Community Eco Art Mosaic! Watch the video above from one of our founders Carolle Huber to learn more about the project. This art piece was made possible in part by funding from Morris Arts through the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
